South Aegean Region Announces Creation of 54 New Water Fields – 2024-08-05 04:00:56

The Regional Governor of South Aegean, Mr. Georgios Hatzimarkos, leads this initiative and expressed his pleasure at the development, stating:

“Our vision of an Aegean that will be fully connected through seaplanes is becoming a reality. With the cooperation of Hellenic Seaplanes, we are proceeding with the implementation of a project that will improve the quality of life of the inhabitants of our islands and boost tourism, making the Aegean more attractive and easily accessible than ever.”

The completion of the seaplane network is expected to provide significant benefits to the local economy, creating new jobs and strengthening local businesses. Seaplanes will contribute to the creation of new tourism products and allow aerial tours, offering a unique experience to visitors.

Cooperation and Implementation of Flights

The company has already started the process of licensing and developing the water fields. The technical files for the approval of the water fields have been submitted in areas such as Amorgos, Anafi, Andros, Antiparos, Syros, Thira, Ios, Kalymnos, Kea, Kimolos, Kythnos, Kos, Lepsi, Leros, Milos, Mykonos, Naxos, Nisyros, Paros, Rhodes, Serifos, Sikinos, Symi, Tinos and Halki.

Seaplane flights are scheduled to begin in the fall of 2024, with the first flights to and from Patmos.
