SOURCES Cîțu refuses to attend the coalition meeting / PNL leader wants the Government to come up with proposals for the energy sector

The PNL leader, Florin Cîțu, refuses to participate in today’s coalition meeting, on the grounds that it would not make sense to hold it until the Government comes up with concrete proposals for the energy sector, liberal sources told G4Media.ro.

The Minister of Energy, Virgil Popescu, should have presented today the inter-ministerial meeting solutions to the energy crisis, more precisely the measures that could be applied after April 1. The Emergency Ordinance on offsetting bills and capping energy prices is only in force until 31 March.

On the other hand, PSD sources explained to G4Media.ro that Florin Cîțu would be dissatisfied because he would like to change the management of the National Investment Company (a position held by Pătrășcoiu Manuela Irinacurrently supported by PNL), but that Prime Minister Nicolae Ciucă would not want this change.

PNL leader Florin Cîțu and PSD leader Marcel Ciolacu have been arguing in recent days over economic measures. PSD supports the regulation of the price of energy and the reduction of VAT on energy to 5%, while PNL wants the general reduction of VAT and the reduction of social contributions.
