Not everyone will be familiar with the Oddworld franchise, but this series is already more than running a while along. The older gamers among us may know the (in our eyes brilliant) game Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee. Over the many years, multiple Oddworld games have been released, and the latest installment, Oddworld: Soulstorm, is now also officially out. Reason enough for Abe fan JJ to take a dip in the game. This is the Oddworld: Soulstorm Let’s Play.
Oddworld: Soulstorm – a sequel and a re-imagining
Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty was released in 2014. This was a remake of the 1997 Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee. Soulstorm serves as a sequel to New n’n Tasty, but that’s not all the game is. The game is also a re-imagining of another Oddworld game called: Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus. Although Abe’s Exoddus is a sequel to Abe’s Odyssey, it is also seen by many as a spin-off title within the franchise. And since the remake of Abe’s Odyssey was made, it made sense to do something with its sequel as well. The result: Oddworld: Soulstorm.
Jump and roll through the level
In Soulstorm you will spend a lot of time running, rolling, climbing and scrambling. This shows the game’s opening mission well. You are Abe, and something goes wrong at the beginning of the game that requires you to escape from your current location. You do this by jumping over gaps, rolling along narrow paths and extinguishing fire with water bottles, or spreading fire with Soul Brew, to create a new path. Can JJ, the man with a fear of platform games, get this job done without ripping? There is only one way to find out. And that is by hitting the Play button nicely. It’s time for the Oddworld: Soulstorm Let’s Play.
