The municipal library offers several free events during August.
In the Lot, libraries and early childhood facilities are committed to offering a book to all Lot babies born in 2023. The municipal library of Souillac and the BDL, in partnership with the CAF du Lot and the MSA, are joining forces to offer young parents the chance to discover books with their child. All parents of a baby born or adopted in the department, with their album collection voucher sent by La Poste, can come and collect their gift from the municipal library. The book offered in 2024 is “Petits Mondes” by Agnès Domergue and Clémence Pollet from Éditions HongFei. “Petits Mondes” is a poem of the senses for babies, a playful and cheerful awakening to the world! The words are light, the colors joyful, the close-ups and the surprises numerous.”
Wednesday, August 28 from 3 to 5 p.m., board game afternoon at the library: hosted by Bérénice. Audience: children and teenagers from 6 years old. Youth section.
An exhibition not to be missed: “The Mystery of the Lamothe Viaduct, August 1944”, from July 30 to September 21. Exhibition by Marie-Françoise Fumat produced from documents by Jean-Pierre Bailles: “The Mystery of the Lamothe Viaduct, August 1944”. Shop windows on rue de la Halle.
Reading – debate: “The Virus and the Street” by Nestor Romero Friday August 30 at 6 p.m. On the occasion of the release of Nestor Romero’s latest book: “The Virus and the Street”, reading-debate. It is a story of “Penguins”, these strange beings who haunt the sidewalks and hold out their hands, in other words who “begging”. Chance (or what?) made some of them find themselves in the Bois. And there they tried to live, to live another life, perhaps even a somewhat authentic life. Followed by a glass of friendship offered by the association: “Read, See, Listen”. Youth section.
