Soteldo trained normally this Saturday morning (11) and should be new to the Santos for the classic against São Paulo. This week, Peixe’s number 10 had been diagnosed with edema in the adductor muscle of his left thigh and, therefore, did not play against Goiás.
The Venezuelan had felt the pain in the game against Cuiabá, on Monday (6), and was substituted in the 33rd minute of the final stage. In the press conference after the game, coach Marcelo Fernandes had already warned about the discomfort that Soteldo felt during halftime of the match. On Tuesday, Santos confirmed the injury that left him out of the next game.
Soteldo has been one of the key players in Marcelo Fernandes’ team in this Brasileirão. The attacking midfielder has four assists and one goal in 17 games. Furthermore, the number 10 is one of the team’s points of imbalance, being able to play in various positions in attack and breaking lines with his dribbling and passing.
In Soteldo’s return to Santos, in 2022, his debut was precisely in a San-São, where Santos won 1-0 with an assist from the short guy. This Sunday (12), the teams met again in Vila Belmiro, at 6:30 pm, in a match valid for the 34th round of the Brazilian Championship.
