SOS thefts, the Conad in Fuorni burgled again: “Army on the streets”

A theft in the store Macchia di Montecorvino Rovella; two in the store of Pontecagnano Faiano; three – with the one from last night – a Get out. Six attacks in a few months: these are the raids suffered by the company that manages several Conad sales points in the province of Salerno and who, now, wants to rebel against these continuous actions of the criminalsacting as the spokesperson for a strong request. In fact, a meeting with the police commissioner of Salerno was requested, Giancarlo Conticchioto ask for greater protection: «We will propose – says one of the group’s members – to put the soldiers on the streets instead of keeping them in the barracks».

A strong request, already made in the last few hours both to the mayor of Salerno, Vincenzo Napolithan to that of Pontecagnano Faiano, Giuseppe Lanzara (the mayor of Battipaglia, Cecilia Francese, will also be asked about the matter), who in the meantime has been asked for support, as far as possible. «We expect concrete answers, we cannot remain at the mercy of these criminals», he highlights again the entrepreneur still burned by yet another episode occurred in one of its stores. Enough to arrive at an eloquent consideration: «By now, those who work in the sector are so burned that they anticipate that, sooner or later, someone will surely come to steal.” Hence, therefore, the request to also use the army: «The problem is not the police, on the contrary: they are always very collaborative and we thank them for what they do. But they are few and forced to cover an increasingly larger territory: it is becoming increasingly difficult to encounter a patrol at night and, when shots occur, even private security cannot cover so many activities in real time. This shortage of men also prevents deterrent activities to stop thieves, such as checkpoints at the entrances and exits of ring roads and motorways».
