SOS Cockroaches in Salerno, disinfestation begins

In the dispute over competences, when summer has now exploded as well as the emergency, the municipal administration breaks the ice and, in place of the ASL, arranges the assignment of the cockroach extermination service. In particular, the disinfestation operations will be concentrated on Matierno, along the Carmine Alto district, in Pastena, in Mercatello, in the Santa Margherita district, in Sant’Eustachio and in Gelsi Rossi.

The intervention, as stated in the service assignment resolution, will be concentrated in the areas of the city “which present particular critical issues, given the various reports received on the presence of this pest in the city, reporting its presence up to the upper floors of some homes”. For this purpose, the Avellino company Tineos Srl has been identified, which will carry out the service for the amount of 19,990 euros plus VAT, including 1,500 euros (plus VAT) as security costs. In short, like every summer in recent years, the Municipality, after having attempted to shoulder the interventions with the ASL (which would be competent), is trying to resolve an emergency that has already exploded for weeks and is creating no small amount of inconvenience for the population.

A carbon copy situation also for the rodent control for which the Municipality intervened urgently after unpleasant presences had been reported from several neighborhoods of the city. Above all, these are situations that should be prevented rather than addressed once the boil has already exploded. Among the prevention interventions, for example, there is the cleaning of the drains as well as the attention to not leaving food waste. Certainly, the high temperatures that especially bring the insects to come out on the surface contribute to the proliferation of cockroaches and insects.
