It is a well-known fact that both blunders and accidents can happen on film sets.
Now Jane Fonda (85) recalls a scene that went wrong during the filming of “Monster-in-Law”, where she played opposite Jennifer Lopez (53).
– Got an open cut
In “Monster-in-Law”, Fonda plays the “On the floor” singer’s snarky mother-in-law, Viola, who constantly wants to put sticks in the wheels of her daughter-in-law’s relationship with her son.
During the couple’s wedding day, the mother-in-law makes one last attempt to drive away daughter-in-law Charlie, played by Jennifer Lopez.
The mother-in-law arrives wearing a long, white dress, which is frighteningly similar to a wedding dress, on the wedding day, which naturally makes Charlie see red. She thus slaps her mother-in-law in the face.
However, Fonda received more than just a slap in the face. On “The Drew Barrymore Show”, reproduced by InsiderFonda says that the blow led to a cut on the face.
About dating: – Not happening
– Jennifer had a huge diamond ring, so one of the times she hit me in the face, I got an open cut above my eyebrow, explained the 85-year-old.
The 53-year-old’s character was quick to lament the battle in the film. According to the 85-year-old, Lopez himself has never apologized for either the blow or the cut.
– She never said sorry.
It is not known if Fonda’s statement was a joke.
– I was so scared
Lopez, for his part, has previously shared his side of the story. It is different from Fonda’s version.
On her own YouTube channel in 2019, Lopez shared that she gave Fonda a blister when she slapped her co-star, and was quick to apologise.
Breaking the silence: – The dream died
– I was deathly embarrassed. I said: “Excuse me!”. And she replied: “It’s going just fine.” There was a purple blister sticking out and she didn’t care. She’s a gangster bitch. I just love her, said the 53-year-old in the video, according to Insider.
At the same time, the 53-year-old admitted that she dreaded hitting Fonda in the face during “Monster-in-Law”.
– I was so afraid of hitting Jane Fonda in the face or hurting her in any way.
– Her character was very similar to her, and I was very similar to my character at the time. I was afraid of her and she was so brave and said, “Just hit me. Don’t think about it, it’s going to be fine.”
