Bekasi –
Thomas Doll apologized for mentioning Coach Indonesian National team Shin Tae-yong as a clown. He admitted that he was emotional so that he finally made a personal attack.
“I want to apologize because I should but never commented personally. That’s all I want to say and look forward to what will happen in the future,” said Doll after the game Persija vs Arema FC at Patriot Candrabhaga Stadium, Bekasi City, Sunday (12/2/2023).
The feud between the two coaches occurred after nine Persija players were summoned to the U-20 Indonesian National Team for a training camp (TC) this February. Persija objected to releasing all of them because some of them were the core squad.
The nine Persija players called up by the U-20 national team are Achmad Maulana, Alfriyanto Nico, Cahya Supriadi, Doni Tri Pamungkas, Frengky Missa, Ginanjar Wahyu, Muhammad Ferarri, Resa Aditya and Barnabas Sobor.
Only five players have been released so Shin continues to beg Persija to make sacrifices for the sake of the country. While Doll wanted two-way communication between the two parties, Persija was not only asked to let go of its players.
Doll questioned Shin’s absence in the virtual discussion between Persija and the Indonesian National Team which was held on Tuesday (7/2). On that occasion Persija was represented by coach Thomas Doll and Vice President Ganesha Putera. While Shin delegated to assistant coach Nova Arianto.
Disappointed by this, Thomas Doll mocked Shin Tae-yong as a clown, referring to the intensity of his colleague appearing as a commercial star.
