Lyngdal and Farsund municipalities have with immediate effect introduced a seven-day quarantine obligation for household members and close contacts of corona-infected people.

LYNGDAL / FARSUND: The municipal chief physicians in the two municipalities have made an urgent administrative decision which is authorized in section 4.1 of the Infection Control Act.
The decision on quarantine obligation applies from Saturday 6 November at 08.00 and seven days ahead. The quarantine obligation applies regardless of whether one has been vaccinated or not.
However, people who have recently been stripped after undergoing covid-19 illness do not need to be quarantined.
Household members
The background for the decision is the ongoing outbreak of infection in the neighboring municipalities. A written statement from municipal chief physician Ann-Margret Haaland in Farsund and municipal chief physician Henriette Pettersen in Lyngdal states that they are now experiencing a significant secondary infection that is mainly spreading within households.
It is currently not relevant to reintroduce the traffic light model in schools and kindergartens, but this will be assessed on an ongoing basis.
In addition to the quarantine obligation for household members, residents and visitors in Lyngdal and Farsund are encouraged to keep a distance of one meter from others, as well as to wear face masks where it is not possible to keep the recommended distance.
Health personnel who are critical of the municipalities’ ability to provide proper health care are exempted from the quarantine requirement, but must carry out the same test regime as persons in quarantine. They must also wear bandages.
Important to coordinate
– We hope this will be sufficient to put down the outbreak. It will not be good if the infection pressure is not greatly reduced before Christmas dinners and other major events are next, says mayor Jan Kristensen in Lyngdal.
Mayor Arnt Abrahamsen in Farsund says it is important to coordinate the measures in the two municipalities.
– The pandemic does not care about the municipal border, and Lyngdal and Farsund have a common labor market and many cross the municipal border daily to go to school or participate in events, says Arnt Abrahamsen.
Earlier this week, Farsund municipality asked that organizers consider postponing the event until after 10 November.
In the ongoing outbreak, Farsund municipality has registered 120 cases of infection, but does not have an overview of infections that are detected by self-testing that has not been reported.
