Starting next week, you can find gingerbread flavored Sørlandchips in stores. This is not the first time that Sørlandschips has tried an unusual new combination.
Sørlandchips has been including potato chips for several years taste of both rib and pork before Christmas, but now they wanted to offer the consumer something new.
– We also wanted something sweet with our fries. We really like chips and gingerbread, so we decided to try it together, says marketing manager Daniel Bernstein of Sørlandschips.

Earlier this year, they launched Sørlandchips with hockeypulversmak and the response to this chip they described as huge.
Too much of the good?
When DinSide asked them why exactly this combination, they were clear in their speech:
– There may be too many good things for Christmas, we thought. Now, for the fourth consecutive year, we have launched ribs and pork chops flavored fries, which for many have become a Christmas tradition.
Bernstein explains that the idea of gingerbread fries has been around for a long time, but because ribs and pork chops have been so popular, they’ve kept gingerbread at bay.
– This year we couldn’t wait any longer. So this year you can get both ribs, pork chops and gingerbread from Sørlandschips, says Bernstein.
Only in Coop
The fries will be in stores from week 46, but in a limited edition. Furthermore, only one chain of stores will sell the new product.
– We only produced 40,000 bags and this year they will only be found in Coop stores, says Bernstein.
Christmas sweets in October create reactions
In the past, Sørlandschips has been successful with different flavors and combinations.
– We firmly believe that even these chips, like hockey powder, will quickly disappear from store shelves, he adds.
Bernstein believes it will become a Christmas tradition for many, in the same way as ribs and pork chops.

Sørlandchips aren’t the only ones who invented the gingerbread flavor. Minde chocolate comes with chocolate-covered gingerbread balls before Christmas.
Diplom-Is relaunches the Ice Cream Sandwich with Gingerbread Cookies for the season, this time in six packs.
Hennig-Olsen also launches Sørlandis gingerbread in a limited edition, vanilla ice cream with chopped gingerbread chunks.
– Eat it together with gingerbread and blue cheese. Salty and sweet, absolutely delicious! advises Paal Hennig-Olsen, managing director of Hennig-Olsen Is.
If you’re one of those people who can’t get enough of the gingerbread flavor, you can garnish gingerbread ice cream, or regular ice cream, with Idun’s gingerbread sauce.
