sorae – Would you like it as a wallpaper?Vertical image showing the surface of Mars from north to south released
This is the “vertical image of Mars” that sorae introduced in an article on September 20, 2019. It was created by processing data taken on June 17, 2019 by the European Space Agency’s (ESA) Mars Explorer Mars Express.
This image is a vertical image that is easy to set as wallpaper on your smartphone, and a high-resolution version can be downloaded from the ESA website.downloadIt is possible to do so.
From the north pole of Mars, visible at the top of the image, bright clouds can be seen extending southward from near the polar cap. The slightly whitish area to the right of the center is a region called the Sabaea continent, with Cassini Crater to the left (west) of the Sabaea Continent and Huygens Crater to the bottom (south).
Also, in the lower right of the image, the white expanse along the Martian horizon is the Hellas Planitia in the southern hemisphere. Although it is called a plain, its true nature is thought to be a huge crater formed by a celestial collision.
Mars Express has been orbiting Mars since 2003, and 2023 will be 20 years since the mission began. (*Launched in June 2003, successfully inserted into Mars orbit at the end of December 2003)
