For the first time, the performance of air conditioning was also in the evaluation of the competition.
The Bratislava Transport Company (DPB) has selected the Czech manufacturer SOR Libchava as the winner of the competition for new 12-meter buses for the Slovak capital.
It will deliver a total of 80 NS12 diesel buses to Bratislava at a cost of EUR 19.08 million (484 million crowns). One bus thus costs 6.09 million crowns. DPB informed about the victory in a press release.
SOR defeated Mercedes-Benz and Solaris in a competition with an estimated price of 22 million euros. Turkey’s Otokar offered an even lower price, but was eliminated.
The new low-floor buses will meet the EURO 6d emission standard. In the competition, for the first time, in addition to price and operating costs, DPB also evaluated the cooling performance of the air conditioning and the volume of the air conditioning compressor. The purchase of new buses will be financed by DPB from a loan and a subsidy from Bratislava. The contract will be signed after the statutory deadlines for appeal have expired.
“New buses will replace vehicles 12 to 14 years old on the streets. This will improve travel by public transport, “ said the chairman of the board of DPB Martin Rybanský.
Bratislava is already a traditional market for buses for SOR, and the company now also supplies buses for operation in the Bratislava self-governing region.
