The new performance combines two single-act works – the Giancarlo Menotti mono Phone a French Pulenka monoopera The human voice. The main role will be played by soprano Sonora Vaice, who will also make her debut as a director.
The scenography of the play was created by multi-artist Ineta Sipunova, whose stage environment and multimedia projections will complement the interplay of soloist Sonora Vaice and baritone Naura Indzer on stage with a parallel film story, creating a saturated revelation of a woman’s emotional world. The piano accompaniment of the production will be provided by Māris Žagars.
Opera Phone has emerged in the middle of the last century, when technology in the form of telephone enters the homes of more and more people and becomes an exciting occupation for housewives. The main character Lucy is so busy with phone calls that she doesn’t notice the groom who has come to seduce her. After several hours of hopeless waiting, all he has to do is go to the phone booth and make a statement over the phone.
Opera The human voice is existentially sharper – the production, both with humor and in all seriousness, will evoke reflection on the values of life and the ability to live here and now, noticing and appreciating the people next to us.
Soloist and director Sonora Vaice says: “The show will feature both humorous episodes and the deep and painful revelations of the main character Lucia and conversations with her soul, which will be intertwined with beautiful travel memories of Paris, Versailles, London. Life must live when given, because then one can only wonder what it would be like if it had been, but it is no longer “counted” … but maybe it is? “
The premiere will start on July 30 at 20 on a specially built stage on the shore of Lake Alūksne, in a bathing place The wind. Spectators will be able to enjoy the show from boats on the lake, so the organizers invite visitors to the show to think about binoculars in time to fully enjoy the visual nuances of the show.
