Sophocles’ top tragedy on tour

In Ioannina, the tour in selected theaters of Greece, of the leading tragedy of Sophocles is presented Electra.

Her Monday, July 10at 21.30, at Outdoor Theater EHM will present the performance that is expected to be one of the top artistic events of the summer. In the performance that gathers a number of important actors, the direction is signed by LillyMeleme, while the eponymous role is played by Lena Papaligoura. This is an ambitious production of hers The ArsAetersin collaboration with Theater of the New World.

In “Electra» by Sophocles, Electra and Orestes avenge the murder of Agamemnon by Clytemnestra and Aegisthus, paying blood with blood. Deeply influenced by his time (late 5th century), possessed by a spirit of questioning, investigation and deconstruction, Sophocles chooses to narrate the myth of Atreides through the subjective gaze of Electra. A look shattered by pain and mourning, which reflects, magnifies and sometimes distorts the reality that surrounds it. It is a gloomy reality. A universe drowning in corruption and injustice. An anti-heroic world where everything has been turned upside down and the order of things has been dangerously disrupted. In this world, Elektra chooses to be the only cell of living consciousness that will not cease to denounce immorality and hypocrisy in perpetuity. Her voice is a brave and dynamic act of active resistance that constantly disturbs and incessantly reminds of the need to redress the horrible injustice.
