After “LOL”, directed by Lisa Azuelos, Sophie Marceau, who played Anne there, will again work with the director for “I Love America”. The film will be available from 2022 on the Amazon Prime Video platform and will therefore not have a theatrical release.
Amazon Prime Video connects the original and French projects. If on September 17, 2021, we will have the pleasure of discovering “Le Bal des Folles”, adapted from the novel by Victoria Mas and directed by Mélanie Laurent, the platform announced in a press release that it had already ordered a new French comedy entitled “I love America “whose realization was entrusted to Lisa Azuelos.
To slip into the skin of Lisa, a woman in search of love and self, the director has set her sights on Sophie Marceau, who is making her comeback here! A promising new project for the two filmmakers who are not in their first collaboration, since they have already worked together for “LOL”. Also in the cast, we will find the rising star of French cinema, Djanis Bouzyani revealed in “You deserve a love” by Afsa Hafsia Herzi, an interpretation that led the actor to the revelations of the César 2020. In the official press release, Lisa Azuelos was delighted with this new adventure: “My only goal when I make a film is LOVE and to thrill the spectators. It is a real honor for me that Amazon Prime Video has decided to accompany me in this mission.“
A story of love and friendship
Co-written with Gael Gierro, the story tells that of Lisa (Sophie Marceau), a mother who finds herself alone after her children have left to stand on their own feet. As for her famous mother, who has been absent all her life, she has just passed away. Lisa needs a fresh start and leaves Paris to find love in Los Angeles. There, she joins her best friend Luka (Djanis Bouzyani) who has set up a drag queens bar, known all over the United States! Like her best friend, Luka struggles to meet her soul mate. When he sees Lisa again, he decides to help her conquer the hearts of men, by creating a profile for her on a dating application. Lisa lets herself be carried away by all these meetings, but little by little she understands that to be happy it is not a man that she needs but to learn to know herself, as a woman and especially to forgive the absences of his mother.
