Won did US 17-year-old Lydia Jacoby in the time 1.04.95, 27 hundredths ahead of South African Tatjana Schoenmaker. It was the USA also in bronze place, through Lilly King. King was 53 percent ahead of Sophie Hansson, who had tears in her eyes when she was impressed by Discovery after the race.
– I went for a medal today. It is clear that it is hard that it did not go faster in the final, but I did everything I could and am proud of it. But it is clear that they would have liked to have been on the podium, she said, and later said that she made a good final:
– I really gave 110 percent. I myself think I put most of it. But there is a lot of emotion now.
