The MP Sophia Chikirou is the target of a complaint for “apology of terrorism”, after the LFI MP published on her Instagram account documents paying tribute to Ismaïl Haniyeh, political leader of Hamas killed Wednesday in Tehran.
The Union of Jewish Students of France (UEJF) announced that it is filing a complaint against Sophia Chikirou for “apology for terrorism” this Saturday, August 3. The LFI MP republished on her Instagram account documents from the Urgence Palestine collective paying tribute to Ismaïl Haniyeh, the political leader of Hamas killed Wednesday in Tehran.
“It is up to the justice system to put an end to this ignominy,” we can read on the X account of the UEFJ
PRESS RELEASE: UEJF files complaint against @chikirouparis and Emergency Palestine for the apology of terrorism.
Calling Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh a “martyr” and “resistance fighter” glorifies terrorism and spreads hatred

“By presenting the head of a terrorist organization as a martyr, head of a resistance organization and by passing over his crimes in silence, deliberately targeting civilians, Urgence Palestine and Sophia Chikirou intend to present Ismaïl Haniyeh as a respectable man worthy of praise and strong tributes,” deplores the UEJF, which announces that it will refer the matter to the national anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office and request the “lifting of the MP’s parliamentary immunity.”
This is what Sophia Chikirou relayed on her personal Instagram account: nothing more and nothing less than a vibrant tribute to the Hamas leader assassinated yesterday.

On her X account, Carole Delga, president of the Occitanie region, describes these facts as “abject”. “The contract and commitments of the New Popular Front are once again trampled and socialist values are flouted,” she writes.
Olivier Faure believes that there is “no possible ambiguity”.
For the First Secretary of the Socialist Party, “Sophia Chikirou only commits herself through her provocations which only have the effect of provoking controversies which undermine collective work.”
