“Sooner Than You Think” – Steam will change the display of release dates for new games

Valve talked about upcoming changes in the display of release dates for new games. If before it was possible to enter something there and the date format confused the inhabitants of different parts of the planet, now everything will be different.

Now the date will be reduced to a common format that will be understandable at first glance and writing all sorts of lines like “sooner than you think” won’t work. Valve pointed out that the developers will set an exact date hidden for the company and displayed separately for players.

Available options:

  • The exact date is “August 24, 2023”

  • Month and year – “August 2023”

  • Calendar year Quarter – “T3 2023”

  • Year – “2023”

  • Undated – “Coming Soon”

Starting January 1, 2023, Valve’s new policy will go into effect. If the developers do not update the release date according to the rules at this point, the release date field will automatically appear “Coming Soon”.
