Spotify has announced that you can soon ask an AI to create playlists for you. The new AI function is still being tested, but basically it means that you should be able to enter requests on a type of playlist, and then the AI should be able to pick out suitable songs for it.

According to Spotify, you should be able to use places, movie characters, activities, colors, animals and even emojis in your requests to the AI. The feature is currently only being tested in the UK and Australia, but when it rolls out to more countries, just go into your library and press the plus button, AI playlists should then be one of the options you can choose. Once the AI playlists are launched globally, however, they will be locked behind the service’s premium subscription.

AI-created playlists aren’t the first AI feature Spotify has introduced, last year the music service launched an AI dj that plays a mix of music that would suit you and that you’ve listened to in the past, and songs that are popular right now.
