Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Holding BUMN Ultra Micro (UMi) which is the government’s strategic plan in strengthening the small business ecosystem of the community will soon be formed. after the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGMS) PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk approved the implementation of the corporate action.
The action to form Holding UMi will be carried out by means of BRI issuing new shares with Pre-emptive Rights (HMETD) alias rights issue.
At the EGMS on Thursday, July 22, BRI received approval rights issue to issue new shares in the context of PMHMETD for a maximum of 28,677,086,000 shares with a nominal value of Rp 50 per share.
The approval was obtained from 104.22 billion votes or representing 95.98% of all shares with valid voting rights.
In this rights issue, the government as a shareholder of BRI does not deposit cash, but transfers the government’s Series B shares in PT Pegadaian (Persero) and PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (Persero) or PNM to BRI alias Inbreng. Thus, BRI will become the parent of Pegadain and PNM.
The proceeds from the corporate action (from public shareholders) will be used by BRI for the establishment of Ultra Micro Holding which is carried out through BRI’s investment in Pegadaian and PNM, as a result of the Government’s involvement.
The remaining funds will be used as working capital for BRI in the context of developing the Ultra Micro ecosystem, as well as Micro and Small businesses.
BRI Deputy President Director Catur Budi Harto said that through the holding, BRI will reach the ultra-micro business segment as a source of growth in the future.
In addition, with the number of micro and ultra micro business segments which are estimated to reach 99% of the total business units in Indonesia, this will play an important role in the progress of the national economy.
He said the presence of the Ultra Micro SOE holding would integrate and strengthen the ultra-micro business segment ecosystem in line with the government’s plan to increase the role of SOEs as agents of value creation and development.
Of course, to support the growth of the national economy, especially in the MSME sector in the future. Synergy and collaboration in this ultra micro holding will also benefit the three entities, in this case BRI, Pegadaian and PNM.
He said that with the formation of an ultra micro ecosystem, it would provide a value proposition to stakeholders including ultra micro business actors in Indonesia, including a complete and integrated choice of financial products, expansion and easy access to financial services through co-location and BRILink agents.
“In addition, data integration will increase cross selling capabilities and business efficiency, accelerate the customer acquisition process through an integrated sales platform, provide access to the micro payment ecosystem & financial services beyond banking, as well as increase ultra-micro empowerment to make it easier to upgrade,” said Chess in its official broadcast, Sunday (25/7/2021).
Meanwhile, Deputy Director of the Institute for Development of Economics and Finance (INDEF) Eko Listiyanto believes that with the presence of a strong ecosystem in this business segment, later it will not only be concerned with the distribution of funds.
The benefits are greater than that, the presence of an institution directly under the umbrella of the state-owned enterprise will empower business actors. In addition, BUMN UMi can provide services for business actors who require skill improvement, including online business expansion.
“Later on, if an ecosystem is formed, there will be funds so that various sides can be encouraged. But what is more important is actually not only in terms of funding. There is an ecosystem, in which there is guidance so there is an acceleration for them to be digitized. Not only digitalization, the quality of the products is also improved. It’s going to be fast,” he said.
According to Eko, this strong integration will also be supported by an entrepreneurial ecosystem. According to him, it should be emphasized more for business actors from the younger generation so that their business can continue to be developed.
It is hoped that the empowerment of the ultra micro and MSME business segments with ecosystem integration through BUMN UMi will strengthen national economic resilience in the future.
“I think the ultra-micro ecosystem is not only dominant in terms of finance but also has coaching. Later it will also need to be combined with the entrepreneurial ecosystem. In this way, I think MSMEs and ultra-micro in Indonesia will increase significantly,” he said.
