Olof Mellberg is one of Sweden’s foremost defensive players of all time. With experience from games in the UEFA Champions League with, among others, the big club Juventus, Premier League games with Aston Villa and above all 117 international matches for Sweden, Mellberg has a track record like few other Swedes. After his career, he has coached clubs such as Brommapojkarna and Helsingborg, and as of this autumn, the Swedish legend will participate as an expert when Telia and C More broadcast the UEFA Champions League.
– The Champions League was always something out of the ordinary to experience as a player. It will be exciting to work with the tournament in the future, says Olof Mellberg.
Erik Westberg, sports director at TV4 and C More, believes that Mellberg’s experience both as a player and coach will add an extra dimension as an expert.
– Olof’s experience from games in big teams like Juventus and his time as team captain in both Aston Villa and the Swedish national team will be very useful. The fact that he also comes with recent coaching experience means that he can see the game from several different perspectives.
