Seeking to bypass the financial support platforms of content creators such as Patreon, more and more social networks are offering subscription systems of their own. They thus intend to help creators to monetize their audiences. And that’s exactly what Meta affiliate Instagram plans to do. Indeed, according to 9to5mac which builds on the findings of Sensor Tower and Apptopia, Instagram’s iOS app was recently updated to include references to a mysterious Instagram Subscriptions program, associated with options between $ 0.99 and $ 4.99 .
We can therefore imagine that Instagram will soon offer its users to subscribe to a particular influential account in exchange for exclusive content. A new monetization tool for content creators, also a source of income for the social network which will not fail to take a commission on the sums spent. Nothing very surprising about this, Instagram having already mentioned earlier in the year its wish to highlight exclusive and paid content. YouTube, Snapchat, TikTok and Twitter have already implemented these kinds of compensation programs for their content creators – or are planning to do so.
