Each year, 1,000 people die of cervical cancer, despite an effective screening process in France. A new type of screening could be implemented, the urine test.
The British Medical Journal has just published a report advocating the use of this new type of urine test. Simple and effective screening that could more easily detect patients. A test less expensive than a smear and just as effective in detecting the presence of “papillomavirus” (HPV) in young women.
“When a papillomavirus test is requested, the urine test should be a recommended alternative, in order to increase the screening rate in women“, explain the authors of the report.
In France, more than 2,800 new cases of cervical cancer are detected each year in France.
