It is already a box, and this despite the confinement and the ban on selling games and consoles in stores. A few weeks before Christmas, Sony launched Thursday, November 19, 2020 its new console, the PS5.
This technological jewel is supposed to revolutionize the gaming experience. Much awaited by gamers, it is already out of stock almost everywhere.
We take stock of the main brands and stores in Lorraine.
At Auchan, only in pre-order
Those who are used to the Auchan hypermarket will have to wait. At the supermarket Nancy-Lobau (Meurthe-et-Moselle), Mont-Saint-Martin, Laxou or from Semécourt (Moselle), the PS5 is not available for purchase now.
She is in sold out and could be purchased by those who pre-ordered.
At Micromania, “you have to wait months”
A Nancy, the specialist brand obviously has no more stocks. “Everything was in pre-order”, we assure you. The store located in the San Sebastián shopping center claims to have already sold a lot of them and “there are still many customers to be honored”. But no figures on the horizon, Sony forbids communicating on sales.
“You have to wait months” now to get the PS5 assures a seller. “It’s a miracle if a customer finds one directly.”
Same observation at Micromania of Cora Moulins-lès-Metz : “Not before April”, assures a saleswoman who also assures to have sold a lot of them but only in pre-order.
The stores assure you: you have to put yourself on a waiting list. And until you get one, you’ll have to play with the previous version for a long time.
At Fnac, no console in store … but games available
On the side of Fnac de Metz or Nancy or their online site, no stock available in store. You will have to be patient and order in advance without any guarantee of being delivered before Christmas. Again, this is a miracle.
On the other hand, it is possible to buy PS5 games and accessories like controllers which are well in stock.
–At Boulanger, same observation!
The brand located in Muse (Metz) or to Vandœuvre-lès-Nancy does not sell either.
The PS5 is unavailable in stores. The brand’s website has been so taken by storm that Boulanger has set up an automatic “chat”. If you are looking for the console, just click. To know that “all the quantities available for the PS5 sale of this Thursday, November 19 have been passed” and that the reseller “is already working with Sony on the rest of the availability”.
With them, it is even impossible to pre-order.

The only hope: the “second-hand” purchase
It has barely been released but it is already on “second-hand” resale on peer-to-peer sales sites such as Le Bon Coin. Some are already willing to shell out astronomical prices to acquire it and others to do business. Normally sold 499 euros (or 399 euros for the digital version, without disc playback), you can find it for sale up to 2,000 or even 3,000 euros! But beware of scams. Make sure the seller has the console in their possession.
