Sony Xperia 1 II it is a unique flagship in many respects, but at the same time in some respects it should be similar to other high-end products, because this is what users expect. The Japanese decided to slightly tweak its specification so that their smartphone did not stand out from the competition.
Already Sony Xperia 1 was unique
Before that, I admit the official premiere of Sony Xperia 1 in February 2019, I was totally crazy about it, and I really rarely get so fascinated by a model, because it’s just smartphones.
Last year’s flagship Sony, however, had something that charmed me effectively, and if not horrendously high price (PLN 3999 for a start), maybe I would even decide to buy it.
My infatuation with Xperia 1 passed me over time and Sony Xperia 1 II it did not make such an impression on me anymore, especially since initially you had to pay as much as PLN 5299 (!) (currently you can buy it for PLN 4,999).
However, Sony decided to make this year’s flagship even more interesting for customers and prepared a new version of this smartphone.
Sony Xperia 1 II in the new version with more RAM
The producer announced in Japan new model Sony Xperia 1 II with the designation XQ-AT42, which will offer its owners up to 12 GB RAM and 256 GB of built-in memory. As a reminder, the previously released version has “only” 8 GB of RAM on board, but also the same large internal memory.
8 GB RAM is not a reason to be ashamed, but 12 GB looks much better on the list of specifications and is more suitable for a top-shelf smartphone. Especially that Sony Xperia 1 II is promoted as a multimedia device and a tool for entertainment (including games), so additional RAM will certainly be useful.
For customers in Japan, it may be important that Sony Xperia 1 II (XQ-AT42) with 12 GB will be available without a contract for the so-called open market. However, the sale of the smartphone will not start until October 30, 2020. This model will appear in stores in three colors: black “Frosted Black” with a matte finish, white and purple.
According to Sony, the “estimated market price” of this version of the flagship will be ~ 124 thousand. yen (without tax), i.e. the equivalent of ~ PLN 4340.
