Sony to increase production of PS5

Some time ago, the production of the PlayStation 5 game console was hampered due to a supply problem. However, now things have improved and Sony wants to increase PS5 production.

Sony have stated that they are planning to increase the production of the game console PlayStation 5. This announcement comes as problems with the supply chain are easing. The good news doesn’t stop there, as the company also revealed that they are planning to expand their portfolio gim The PS5 too.

Although the PS5 console launched in November 2020, the Japanese manufacturer has struggled with production due to ongoing global chip shortages and other supply constraints. However, Sony plans to close the gap in its third year.

Furthermore, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan stated that “we plan to scale up production of the console further, taking us to production levels we’ve never been able to achieve before.”

This news arrives despite the Covid-19 lockdown in China, but the Sony executive stated that things are bound to get better. Reported from Gizmochina (27/5), Sony also projects that PS5 sales will reach 18 million units by the end of the March financial year compared to 11.5 million units from the previous year. In particular, Sony is also moving away from focusing on single player titles that are exclusive to its platform.

Now, Sony will be working on more PC and mobile game titles, and will even offer games live service which will make up almost half of all new titles by 2025. The official further added that “There will be a lot of individual players who would rather enjoy the game the way they have played it for the last 30 years or so.”
