Liputan6.com, Jakarta Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has publicly disclosed to discontinue sales PlayStation in Russia, as a result of the conflict in Ukraine.
Previously, Sony have not officially announced their decision in response to the Ukraine and Russia wars. However, it is known that they have postponed the launch Grand Touring 7 in Russia.
Joe Taraborreli, SIE Spokesperson told The Verge, they join the global community for peace in Ukraine.
“We have suspended all deliveries software and hardwarelaunching Grand Touring 7and the operation of the PlayStation Store in Russia,” said Taraborelli, quoted Thursday (10/3/2022).
Taraborelli added that the company also announced a US$2 million (approximately Rp. 28.5 billion) donation to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and Save the Children, to help those affected.
Sony’s decision also adds a line of companies game who stopped selling their products in Russia. In addition, some of them have also suspended sales in Belarus, which is an ally of Russia.
