Jakarta, Selular.ID – Sony is definitely no stranger to virtual reality devices. It’s just that they haven’t brought an update on Sony VR devices for a very long time.
But the latest news says that Sony is busy working on the latest generation of VR devices. This report was submitted by PSVR Without Parole.
The report claims that Sony held a private conference for developers, where they detailed the new VR headset they were working on.
The folks at UploadVR have verified that the event did happen, which while not going into any other details, at least corroborates the claim.
As reported by Ubergizmo, the upcoming VR headset is expected to come with a new resolution of 4000×2040, meaning that each eye will get 2000×2040.
It also features eye tracking, foveated rendering, features an OLED HDR display, and has a 110-degree field of view, making it 10 degrees wider than the PSVR.
Sony also seems to want to make more interesting games for its new VR headset and has informed the developers that they are looking for a AAA game title for it.
They also seem to be asking developers to create a hybrid game that can be played on a regular TV, but at the same time featuring VR support for those who want to enjoy it in VR as well.
Even so, it looks like this VR headset won’t be debuting this year. The report claims that launch details are only expected in early 2022, but even that is no guarantee that we’ll see it next year.
