Sony showed images of the PlayStation 5 interface for the first time on Thursday. In a video of more than ten minutes, Sony shows what has changed compared to the operating system of the PlayStation 4.
An important new addition is the ‘control center’, which can be accessed at any time by pressing the PlayStation button on the controller. Here users can see if they have received notifications while gaming, invite friends and change various settings without having to close the game.
Games, achievements, screenshots and other information about games on the PlayStation are shown in ‘cards’ in the menu. According to Sony, this should make it easier to find information about a game that you are currently playing.
During the demo, Sony will also show a new hint system, which allows game developers to add tips for players to help them through difficult parts of the game. These can be short texts or videos that the users can leave on the screen while playing.
The interface to take photos and videos of your game while playing is also extensive. This can also be done from the control center. In addition, the PlayStation 5 supports video recording in 4K resolution.
