Sony seems to have backtracked on the issue of ignoring PS Plus upgrade discount; understand

Since yesterday, the new PS Plus is giving you the talk about your upgrade.

Firstly, we had the information that when upgrading, the Sony ignored the discounts that were applied to the already active subscription. That is, you would need to pay for the discount you had in the past. THE PlayStation Hong Kong technical support confirmed this story this morning.

Now, it looks like things are finally getting more realistic. One Taiwan user explained that a new calculation is being made available when he tries to upgrade. In the screenshots below you can see that the PS Store charged him $960.83, compared to $617.38 today.

The story as a whole seemed quite surreal and would probably cause even more controversy if the new PS Plus was already available here. However, as it will only arrive in June 13it is likely that this situation will not happen, considering what we have now.
