Sony Santa Monica recently released God of War: Ragnarok, but the studio is already working on another project that promises to be a new franchise. There were rumors that it would be a sci-fi game and it looks like we’ve got confirmation now.
Alana Pierce, who joined the Santa Monica team as a writer in 2020, is already working on a new IP. During a recent podcast chat with Mike Bithell, the game’s developer, the writer confirmed that this is a sci-fi project.
Mike Bithell: I’m already working on… an unnamed sci-fi franchise that I’m currently writing…
Alana PierceA: Me too, hee hee.
It will be a long time before we finally get to know about the studio’s new sci-fi project, but it would be interesting to finally see Santa Monica bet on something new after years of working on God of War alone.
Corey Barlog, director of God of War in 2018, ended up dropping directing God of War: Ragnarok to focus on the studio’s new sci-fi project, which has yet to be revealed.
