Many studios PlayStation have stuck to releasing games from established and well-known franchises over the past years and even decades, but it seems that Sony Santa Monica really going to expand its boundaries beyond the series God of War and test yourself in a completely different direction.
Since the release of God of War 2018, part of the Santa Monica Studio team led by Erica Williams took over the development of the sequel (GoW: Ragnarök), and the other half, led by Cory Barlog started production of an unannounced project for to a new IPbut what exactly this game is was not officially mentioned anywhere. There were rumors that it could be a sci-fi title, and apparently this is true.
In the latest episode of the podcastPlay, Watch, Listen” screenwriter Sony Santa Monica Alana Pierce had a conversation with a British game designer Mike Bitell from Bithell Games (Thomas Was Alone, Volume), during which he revealed that he was currently working on a sci-fi franchise. In response, Pierce stated that she was “doing the same thing”.
The announcement of the new Santa Monica Studio game was expected in May at the presentation PlayStation Showcase 2023but this never happened.
