(MENAFN- Al-Borsa News) The Japanese electronics and entertainment company “Sony” recorded record profits during the fiscal year ending in March, supported by the chip division and sales of the “PlayStation 5” gaming platform.
During the fiscal year ending in March, the company’s operating profit reached 1.21 trillion yen ($8.9 billion), an all-time high for Sony, and revenue from the gaming division rose 33% year on year to 3.64 trillion yen.
The Japanese company announced the sale of 19.1 million units of the “PlayStation 5” platform during the fiscal year, exceeding its expectations of 18 million, up from 11.5 million units sold in the previous fiscal year.
As for the new fiscal year that will end in March 2024, the company expects its sales to reach 11.5 trillion yen, roughly stable compared to the previous year, and it expects its operating profit to decline 3% on an annual basis to 1.17 trillion yen.
