jpnn.com – Sony released the latest hid-PlayStation Linux kernel driver which supports PlayStation 5 DualSense controllers.
Quoted from Gizchina, the driver will also support other PlayStation hardware on Linux.
Additionally, a new Linux kernel driver to support DualSense controllers in USB and Bluetooth mode.
Support also includes a motion sensor, LED light, touchpad, and light bar.
With the announcement of the new drivers, Sony also plans to transfer a portion of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) hardware support from the existing “hid-sony” driver to the “hid-PlayStation” driver.
The original form of this driver was to have more than 1,400 lines of code to meet the needs of the PS5 controller.
The Sony PlayStation 5 uses a custom Zen 2 3.5GHz AMD 8 core CPU, a custom RDNA 2 GPU containing 36 sets of CU units, 10.28 TFLOP floating-point computing capability, 16GB GDDR6 memory, custom 825GB SSD, and a Blu-Drive 4K UHD ray.
SSD is the key to improving PS5 performance. The PS4 search time is said to take 2-50 seconds, while the PS5 is almost instantaneous.
