Project Q, the new game controller with a screen developed by Sony for the PlayStation 5, will not be much different from an Android-powered tablet. According to the new images that have emerged, the device will offer the opportunity to project only the image of PlayStation 5 to the screen, as it was said when it was introduced.
Now we even see portable handheld consoles that support Windows on the market. Considering that console gaming was mobilized much earlier with the Nintendo Switch, we can see more clearly why Sony was late to mobilize the PlayStation 5. However, the Japanese giant does not sit idle and takes the first steps towards mobilization with the new controller called Project Q.
Project Q, which was introduced at the State of Play event in May, is actually a modified version of the PlayStation 5’s stock controller DualSense. Sony, which places DualSense between two sections in the middle, aims to eliminate the need for TV connection in this way, but the PlayStation 5 must be turned on and the image must be transferred to the screen in order to use Project Q. Well Project Q isn’t exactly a portable consoleas a tablet-only DualSense.
Sony Project Q was first seen in action and it turned out that the device is actually an Android tablet with a DualSense body:
As can be seen from the video, Sony aims to offer the remote play feature that we experience on phones with an Android compatible mirroring application, in the DualSense body. As a matter of fact, the main problem here is that the tablet for projection purposes only to be used. In other words, it seems that it will not be possible to use this tablet for another job or task.
Especially the remote play feature on the new generation consoles can actually work quite well if you have a stable internet connection. Although it has problems in competitive games due to lags, it is a pleasant experience compared to experiencing the console on a smartphone or a real tablet screen and controlling your device remotely. However, Sony just for developing a controller for this purpose also the target of criticism.
So what are your thoughts? If you already have a PlayStation 5 and DualSense, will Project Q work, which will allow you to play games by just lying down and offer an experience that you cannot experience remotely with almost any internet connection? Meanwhile over $200 expected to be. Nintendo Switch Lite, which works completely independently, can be purchased for the same price.
