Sony announced the Xperia 5 II on Thursday, the successor to the compact Xperia 5 that came on the market last year. The smartphone is optimized for games and can also be used on 5G networks.
The Xperia 5 II gets a Snapdragon 865 chip from Qualcomm with 5G functionality. The smartphone has a 6.1-inch HDR OLED screen.
The touch sensitivity has been increased so that the screen responds four times faster in games than the Xperia 5, in combination with a refresh rate of 120 frames per second. The smartphone can also be connected to a PlayStation 4 controller for gaming, just like its predecessor.
The camera has three lenses with a focal length of 16, 24 and 70 millimeters respectively. It uses special real-time eye AF technology that easily focuses on eyes via artificial intelligence.
It is also possible to shoot movies at 120 frames per second with a resolution of 4K and HDR. The new focus functions allow the camera to capture up to twenty frames per second with autofocus.
The Xperia 5 II will be available from October. The device costs 899 euros and is available in black and blue.
