Sony postpones ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’ again; ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ also in danger?

Sony Pictures has decided to postpone the release of Venom: Let There Be Carnage to postpone again. The increasing infections with the delta variant in the United States are probably the main reason for this.

Marvel fans will have to wait a little longer to see the highly anticipated sequel to the unexpected blockbuster Venom (2018) in cinemas. Venom: Let There Be Carnage was supposed to premiere on September 24, but the release has now been moved to October 15.

Too risky because of corona
Hollywood seems to be getting more reserved with the release of its blockbusters; movies that have to make a lot of money. The financial risks seem to be too great at the moment.

After all, the revenues of films that premiered during the pandemic are on average quite disappointing. Although the additional streaming releases from some studios also bring in the necessary money, the cash registers are far from ringing as they did before the corona era.

Research among American moviegoers also shows that fewer and fewer people are feeling comfortable in the cinemas as the delta variant of the corona virus continues to advance. All in all, the conditions are not ideal.

New ones Spider-Manfilm also in danger?
The postponement of Venom: Let There Be Carnage could just have consequences for Spider-Man: No Way Home, also a Marvel film produced by Sony. That print should be released in December, but a trailer is still missing.

According to some fans and experts, this is a sign that the studio is cautious about starting a promotional campaign. Also No Way Home must become a billion-dollar blockbuster and canceling the release because of corona is not financially attractive as additional marketing costs will have to be incurred later.
