Sony PlayStation President and CEO Jim Ryan Announces Retirement in 2024 After 30-Year Career at the Company

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – Sony PlayStation President and CEO Jim Ryan announced that he will step down from his position and retire in March 2024, after a career of almost 30 years at the company.

Jim Ryan first joined Sony Interactive Entertainment in Europe, Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe, which was then called Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, in the legal department, in 1994.

Since then, he has held a number of senior positions at the company including President of SIEE, Head of Global Sales and Marketing SIE and Deputy President of SIE since January 2018.

Jim Ryan was then appointed President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, the company under which the PlayStation platform operates, in 2019 replacing John Kodera.

“After 30 years, I have made the decision to retire from SIE in March 2024,” said Ryan, as quoted from the official Sony Interactive website, Thursday (28/9/2023).

Although he admits he got a job at a special company with great people, he finds it increasingly difficult to adjust between living in Europe and working in North America.

“I will leave here with the privilege of working on a product that has touched millions of lives around the world,” said Jim Ryan.

“PlayStation will always be a part of my life, and I feel more optimistic about SIE’s future,” said the PlayStation boss.

In a transition period, Sony Group Corporation President, COO and CFO Hiroki Totoki will assume the role of Chairman of Sony Interactive Entertainment in October 2023.
