They won’t have a quiet end of the year at Sony. In the morning, we informed you about the first possible details of the console PlayStation 5 Pro and recently the Rhysida ransomware group boasted about hacking the studio Insomniac Games. The group was supposed to get information about the upcoming game Marvel’s Wolverinewhich is in development for the PS5.
It was published as evidence mosaic stolen materials. On it we see several images from the game. In addition, the group was said to have obtained confidential information about Insomniac Games employees, including passport scans, and associates. Apparently, among them is Yuri Lowenthal, who voiced Peter Parker, Spider-Man. In addition, the hackers were supposed to obtain internal e-mails and other unspecified confidential documents.
Insomniac has seven days to respond and pay 50 bitcoins. At the current exchange rate, this is more than two million dollars (47.4 million CZK). If they don’t pay, the auction starts with the same starting price.
Companies usually do not negotiate with hackers and do not resort to blackmail. Last September, gameplay footage of an early development version was similarly leaked Grand Theft Auto IV. The hacker was later caught.
