Sony is once again fueling the opinion that the company is only after money, trying to get from gamers at any cost. It was introduced yesterday the new PlayStation 5 modelwhich will gradually replace the original version.
The problem is the rack that is required to securely stand the slimmer PS5 in an upright position. When you buy an old console model, you will find a black plastic stand in the package for both vertical and horizontal position. However, for the new look of the console, Sony decided to change the way the console is positioned.
In the first picture, we can see that when the console is lying down, it is supported by a small silver stand in the gap. This will apparently be needed to “fill” the gap created by the optical Blu-ray mechanism. So for the Digital Edition without the drive, you can do without it, but it will be in the package, because you can buy the drive separately. In the second picture, the console is in a vertical position and we can see below it larger silver stand. Unfortunately, it will not be included in the package. It will be sold separately for 30 eur (converted to CZK 737). So maybe around a thousand here. It will be compatible with the old PS5 model.
OLD COVERS ARE USELESS
The new PlayStation 5 is more than 30% smaller and 18% and 24% lighter. With this in mind, current replacement covers will not be compatible. The new ones will be available sometime in early 2024. Sony has confirmed an all matte black variant and a Deep Earth Collection with Volcanic Red, Cobalt Blue and Sterling Silver. The price of the cover will start at 54.99 euros. More colors will be available in the future.
The PS5 Slim goes on sale since November this year in the USA and in the coming months around the world. The recommended retail price is EUR 549.99 (converted to CZK 13,500) for the PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray drive and EUR 449.99 (converted to CZK 11,050) for the PS5 Digital Edition.
In Europe, both variants of the new PS5 model will be sold at the same price as the old ones. If Sony does not decide to increase the price in our country when converting from euros, then it should maintain the current prices. This means CZK 13,390 for the variant with a Blu-ray drive and CZK 10,990 for the Digital Edition. You can buy it cheaper somewhere.
They have to prepare for price increases in the USA and Japan, where the price of the PS5 Digital Edition will increase. It now retails for $400 (¥49,478). The new price will be 450 dollars, or 59,980 yen.
In Japan, from 10/18 this year, they will also pay more for peripherals, including the DualSense wireless controller, Pusle 3D headset or HD camera.
