Sony planning to take over more studios? Over $5 billion remains to be spent

In recent years, we have witnessed quite vigorous activities of the Japanese producer and publisher in the field of acquiring development teams. One of the most famous PlayStation acquisitions last year was the purchase of Bungie, which will be dynamically developing the games-as-services segment. During the last Morgan Stanley Technology Media and Entertainment conference Hiroki Totoki, chief financial officer of Sony Group Corporation, admitted that more than $5 billion (700 billion yen) remained in the strategic investment budget. At the same time, the boss revealed that the corporation is operating in accordance with the set plan and by the end of this financial year the indicated funds will be used.

Recall that it cost Sony $3.6 billion to acquire Bungie, but the total investment last year was $12 billion. So far, however, it is not known how much of the remaining huge sum will be allocated to the games segment, although there are naturally speculations about new acquisitions of development studios.
