Amid two major protests in Hollywood – Actors Guild and Writers Guild strikes – Sony Pictures announced about significant changes to its release schedule.
Now the end of the trilogy about the adventures of Spider-Man, Miles Morales in the multiverse, will not be released in the spring of 2024, as originally planned. The cartoon was postponed indefinitely, removing it from the schedule. This is probably due not only to strikes, but also to problems during production – the artists who worked on the picture previously claimed that the release of the third part on time would be a “miracle”.
According to Sony, several different possible release dates are being considered for the animated film, depending on how long the protests drag on.
Due to the strikes, the studio’s next major film release, Gran Turismo, had to be postponed. Actors including stars like Orlando Bloom and David Harbour, will not be able to take part in the promotional campaign, so the film will be released in wide release two weeks later, which will allow Sony to prepare other ways to promote the picture. And on August 11, on the same date, the movie will be shown in a limited number of cinemas.
In addition, the film company has postponed Kraven the Hunter and the next Ghostbusters. The Spider-Man foe starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson will now release almost a year later in August 2024.
Sony also announced the exact release dates for two of its major films – “Venom 3” and “Bad Boys 4”.
