Sony overtakes Nintendo and becomes the richest company in Japan

Needless to go around too much, gaming is one of the few sectors in which Sony has managed to achieve stellar revenues, exhilarating results that especially in the latest video game generation have allowed the Japanese company to catch its breath. PlayStation 4 in fact, it was an incredibly successful console that quickly knew how to establish itself on the market as the best gaming machine, partly also because of a Microsoft that was initially antagonizing the whole videogame community flanked by a Nintendo that with its WiiU no longer knew how to move.

Today the situation has changed significantly and both Nintendo and the Xbox brand of Microsoft have undertaken intriguing paths that are undoubtedly paying off, but this has not however prevented Sony from reaching an important milestone on the Japanese market. According to what recently revealed by the Toyo Keizai website, in fact, Sony has finally managed to return to first place in the ranking of the richest companies in Japan, actually surpassing Nintendo which is now in second place.

The ranking had in fact seen in 2017 an important overtaking of Nintendo against Sony, all thanks to that little jewel of Nintendo Switch that with its incredible playroom made of unmissable exclusives, was able to conquer the Japanese market in a very short time. Following the news, numerous theories appeared on the web as to why Sony managed to return to the first position, with many users who have “blamed” the recent events related to the proliferation of COVID-19.

Since the very first weeks of quarantine, in fact, the Nintendo Switch stocks have been exhausted practically everywhere (with the situation that in this sense still appears problematic today), unlike PlayStation 4 which thanks to the many stocks prepared has never really struggled in this regard. Regardless, what Sony has achieved remains an important milestone and it will be very interesting to see how the market will move when the much-talked PlayStation 5.

Speaking of productions by PlayStation 4, we can only advise you to play The Last of Us Part 2, a Naughty Dog masterpiece that you can buy on Amazon.
