Sony officially presents the new A7S III

After 5 years without renovating its main video-focused camera, Sony has finally introduced the new A7S III, a camera that will mainly compete with Canon’s new cameras: the R5 and R6.

As is the keynote of the A7 family, it is a relatively compact and lightweight mirrorless camera with full-frame sensor. The A7S range, in particular, corresponds to the one that is more focused on video, and that is the one that the Japanese company renewed today.

The Sony A7S III comes with a 12 megapixel CMOS sensor, which will be capable of recording in 4K at 120 FPS (10-bit 4: 2: 2)Or 1080p at 240 frames per second. The camera supports both the H.264 and H.265 HEVC codec for better image quality, and features 759 phase detection points (for autofocus), as well as its eye detection system that will work in both photos as video.

Returning to the subject of the sensor, the A7S III has a fairly wide ISO range, ranging from 40 to 409,600, which is ideal for recording in all kinds of situations, even when we have little or no light available. It also has a 5-axis stabilization system on the body, as well as two slots for memory cards, which support UHS-II SD cards and Compact Flash Express type A.

The electronic viewfinder (EVF) comes with new features too. Now it has a 0.64-inch OLED panel and 9.44 million points of resolution, positioning itself as one of the best on the market so far. The rear touch screen is a 3-inch LCD type with 1.44 million dots of resolution.

The Sony A7S III will arrive in various markets from next September, and it will cost about USD $ 3499.
