Sony may end ‘Venom 2’ and push ‘Morbius’ even further away

Reports are coming through various websites that Sony Pictures will release the Marvel movie Venom: Let There Be Carnage will slow down again. Director’s movie Mowgli-Director Andy Serkis would even be moved to 2022.

According to Vulture, multiple sources confirm that the second Venom film will be moved to January 21, 2022, the date of that other considerably delayed Sony / Marvel film Morbius. That film would also be further delayed.

Lots of Marvel delay at Sony
Where Marvel Studios seems to be releasing its films this year, Sony is acting fairly nervous. Venom: Let There Be Carnage was previously scheduled for October 2, 2020 and June 25, 2021 and September 17 were also on the bill. For now, the film is officially set for October 15, 2021.

Morbius could even be delayed by two years. The film around Jared Leto’s Michael Morbius was previously scheduled for July 10, 2020 and has already been released on July 31, 2020, March 19, 2021 and October 8, 2021.

What the possible changes will have consequences for Spider-Man: No Way Home is of course not clear yet, but don’t be surprised if that film only appears in mid-2022.
