Sony lost a lawsuit against the creators of game cheats – the proceedings went on for ten years

It all started when Sony filed a lawsuit against Datel for selling cheats for PSP-versions MotorStorm: Arctic Edgewhich allowed players to use unlimited boosts, bypassing the restrictions set by the game.

The company claimed that its copyrights were being violated and that the cheat was “attaching to the software like a parasite,” but in reality, Datel’s cheat didn’t change the product -soft, but it worked with code stored in PSP memory.

The court initially ruled in favor of Sony, but Datel appealed. the decision was later reversedbecause the rogue code was found to “execute parallel instructions on variables stored in main memory.” Dissatisfied with this decision, Sony appealed to the European Court, which ultimately sided with Datel.
