Sony Launches Xperia 10 III “Lite” Model

Unexpectedly, Sony launched a “Lite” version of the Xperia 10 III. For now, it seems that Sony will only market the smartphone in Japan in collaboration with the Japanese MVNO operator (and SIM-free). There is no official information whether the Xperia 10 III Lite will be marketed outside of Japan or not.

Unlike the vanilla variant, Sony has cut the storage capacity of the Xperia 10 III Lite by half, to 64 GB. The microSD slot is still available and the RAM capacity remains at 6GB. One thing to note, the Lite model is available as a Single SIM model, although there is an eSIM.

In addition to cutting its internal storage capacity, Sony has also removed support for FM radio. However, consumers still get a 3.5mm headphone jack. The rest is the same as on the regular Xperia 10 III, including the 6.0-inch OLED display with 1080p+ resolution.

For the kitchen runway, Sony still embeds the same chipset, namely Snapdragon 690. In addition, Sony also provides this smartphone with a 4,500 mAh battery that features 30W fast charging. Not to forget, Sony has also buried the IP68 feature so that the Xperia 10 III Lite is water and dust resistant.

The embedded camera support is also still the same, with a 12 MP main camera, an 8 MP telephoto camera and an 8 MP ultra-wide camera. There are various color choices offered, namely Black and White which is available on IIJmio, mineo, goo and nuro Mobile. Meanwhile, Blue and Pink are only available exclusively on Rakuten.

Sony confirmed that this Lite model will be available starting on August 27th at launch price of JPY 46,800 which converts to IDR 6.2 million. For comparison, the vanilla model is priced at JPY 51,480 or equivalent to IDR 6.7 million.
