JAKARTA – Not just the main device, the need for various supporting tools is increasingly important in today’s digital era. One of them is a microphone. Its existence really supports every content creator’s activities to be able to make quality videos.
Recently, a number of brands have started competing to provide supporting tools by offering quality advantages, even various specific advantages in their features.
Most recently, Sony has presented three new microphones, each with its own advantages. Starting from microphone models ECM-W3, ECM-W3S, to ECM-S1.
First, the ECM-W3 is a microphone with receiver two channels and two microphones. Specifically presented by Sony to support the needs of content creators who often make video interviews and two-way conversations, as is the case podcast.
The ECM-W3 microphone was designed with sound quality in mind. Where Sony claims to have achieved high-quality sound capture technology with noise reduction. One of them is thanks to filter support noise-cut, which effectively reduces harsh noise with digital signal processing, and filters low-cut which reduces unwanted low frequency noise such as wind noise, air conditioning and vibration.
In addition, there is also a windscreen included to reduce the noise produced when strong winds or breath hits the microphone, thus allowing clear audio recording without interference from the surrounding environment. Combination of filters and windscreen It is believed that the Japanese brand will be able to produce less noise removal processing on videos during post-production.
ECM-W3S
Support for excellent noise reduction quality is also available in Sony’s next new microphone, the ECM-W3S. But the difference is, ECM-W3S comes only with receiver one channel and one microphone. So that it is superior in capturing clear and articulate user voices for vlogger and video creator content with a focus on organic voice delivery.
Both ECM-W3, and ECM-W3S are also presented with compatibility Multi-Interface (MI) Shoe with a Sony camera. Compatibility is also further improved through the terminal USB Type-C and output audio 3.5 mm which allows connection with various other devices equipped with a USB terminal and 3.5 mm audio input such as cameras, smartphones and PCs, and others.
By design, these two microphones are made with compact dimensions, 25.0mm x 52.5mm x 20.5mm (W/H/D), and weigh only 17g. While the receiver measures 32.0mm x 29.0mm x 50.0mm (W/H/D) and weighs 25g.
For added durability, the ECM-W3 and ECM-W3S are designed to be dust and moisture resistant, making outdoor use even better.
Microphone ECM-S1
For the ECM-S1 microphone, Sony presents it at an even higher quality level. Which is intended to support professional videographers and video content creators who need the best audio quality for shooting, live streaming and podcasts at the same time.
The ECM-S1 is equipped with three large diameter (14mm) capsules that have three sound pickup modes: Uni-directional, Omni-directional, and Stereo to produce quality sound pickup with high sensitivity, and wide frequency characteristics. It is believed that the low noise level and wide dynamic range of this microphone will also enable the recording of even the softest sounds clearly.
By setting it to record human voices naturally and clearly, the microphone can capture realistic and richly textured sounds during recording that are unique to streaming microphones.
The ECM-S1 also has a noise reduction filter that effectively removes loud noise through digital signal processing, and a low-cut filter that reduces non-essential low-frequency noise such as wind, air conditioning and vibration, thereby reducing the impact on the surrounding environment.
For connectivity, receiver The ECM-S1 can be connected to compatible cameras via MI Shoe. The microphone and receiver also come with USB Type-C compatible terminals output audio digital 48 kHz/24-bit.
This microphone is also supported Codec Bluetooth 5.3 (Bluetooth Low Energy) and LC3plus which can provide low power consumption, low latency and high sound quality. So when using a wireless connection, the recording style is not affected by environmental conditions.
Meanwhile, the ECM-S1’s design also prioritizes portability, thanks to a weight of only 157g, and dimensions of 63.0 mm x 137.5 mm x 63.0 mm (W/H/D). Meanwhile, the receiver is also made ultra-light and compact, weighing 25g with dimensions of 32 mm x 29 mm x 50 mm (T/T/T).
Regarding price, the ECM-S1 is priced at Sony at IDR 6,499,000. Meanwhile, ECM-W3 is IDR 7,499,000 and ECM-W3S is IDR 5,599,000.
