Sony is working on a new PlayStation, although five are still missing from the stores

The improved version should come on the market next year. Since designing a proper console is not a matter of a few minutes, work is already underway. This is despite the fact that sales of the PlayStation 5 only started last November.

The DigiTimes server specified that the novelty should offer a similar design as the currently offered five, but it should be significantly more compact. As was the case with previous generations of consoles from Sony, the novelty will be nicknamed Slim.

However, Times Live sources said that the PlayStation 5 Slim should be paradoxically more powerful than the currently offered five. This is because it will have an improved processor that will use 6nm instead of the 7nm manufacturing process.

However, Sony has not yet officially confirmed the arrival of any console. This year, only the arrival of a new generation of virtual reality PlayStation VR is expected, which will be designed specifically for PlayStation 5.

The PlayStation 5 is currently available in two different versions. The standard five will cost potential applicants CZK 13,490, the version without mechanics called Digital Edition will cost CZK 10,790. However, stores have been hopelessly sold out for several months, and at the moment no one can say for sure when the situation will change.

Sony CFO Hiroki Totoki said in a closed meeting this month that “the desperate situation will persist until next year”. This is despite the fact that the Japanese electronics giant is trying to dramatically increase production capacity – but even that is not enough to fully meet demand. It is, of course, a worldwide problem.

A source from the production of the DigiTimes server revealed that in 2021 Sony is going to put 16.8 to 18 million consoles on store shelves. Gradually, therefore, demand should be satisfied.
